An article defines or modifies a countable noun. Articles are also used before an adjective that modifies a countable noun.


There are two types of articles:

* Indefinite Article – a and an

* Definite Article – the


Here, we shall learn about the indefinite article ‘a and an’.


The indefinite article ‘a and an’ is used with singular countable nouns when the noun is general and not specific. It also indicates that the noun referred to is unknown to the speaker, listener, writer and/or reader.
